Roland is inspired by a painting of a Venetian knight by Giambono in 1450. I used a Renaissance technique of many layers of oil on a monochromatic underpainting for a brilliant glow. This horse is truly amazing and is one of my favorite horses of all time. It is a wonderful experience to live with an "ancient" painting in your home.
